Back in April 2011 public sector organisations in England and Wales were given access to Ordnance Survey products via the Public Sector Mapping Agreement (PSMA).
As members of the PSMA, Public Sector organisations such as Central Government departments, Local Government authorities, Parish councils and NHS Trusts are given access to high quality, expertly managed and maintained Geographic Information, provided as a range of datasets.
Ordnance Survey data is free to PSMA members
The challenge is to make use of this vast amount of data and analyse it in such a way that makes sense and is valuable for future decision making.
If you take a look at our NHS Somerset Stroke Services case study you will see how the Geographical Information System (GIS) team at South West Commissioning Service used Ordnance Survey data in conjunction with TRACC to carry out a comprehensive travel time analysis, covering emergency vehicles, private and public transport options and implications, in order to make an informed decision on the proposed centralising of stroke services.
Basemap is a partner and provider of Ordnance Survey data. Dan Saunders, Product Manager, will be attending the following PSMA Regional events, where public sector organisations will be sharing best practice using PSMA datasets:
- 20th October 2015 – York
- 27th October 2015 – Edinburgh One Scotland Mapping Agreement annual conference
- 5th November 2015 – London
- 10th November 2015 – Manchester
If you are attending any of these conferences, we have a stand so please come and say ‘hello’!
