The famous TFL Lost Property Office is moving out of its 86 year old home in Baker Street, and taking along many odds and ends which passengers have been leaving behind since 1933.
Many factors and challenges come into play with any office relocation, big or small, but the challenges facing the TFL Lost Property Office are quite unique. They’re moving their famous oddity filled offices from Baker Street to South Kensington to enable a more efficient service for the residents and visitors of London. Items found in the past include a life-size gorilla statue, a prosthetic leg, musical instruments, and of course countless umbrellas and mobile phones. With more than 900 items of lost property found every day across the transport network, their new home will provide more space for storing and processing items lost by the growing London population.
All sorts of reasons can be behind an office move; maybe, like tfl, you require more space or perhaps you are looking to revamp your business, save money, or move to a more convenient location for your staff. When planning your office relocation, it is important to factor in accessibility and travel times for your employees – think about if your new location be reached by public transport, how long an average commute would take, or what effect traffic and congestion may have on journey times, for example.
This may seem like a lot to consider, but with our TRACC software you can quickly and easily find this information out using travel time analysis, and even compare your potential office locations to each other and your current space. You can input data to analyse employees commutes, whether they travel by car, public transport, walking or cycling. Data that can be used includes what time they travel, the route they take, their mode of transport and time spent travelling, and you can then use this information to accurately make a decision on the best possible location for your fresh new offices. Hopefully you won’t have quite as many items as TFL in your lost and found to pack up and take with you.
