MOST DETAILED

Full postcode address file UK

The Postcode Address File contains 1.7 million postcodes. It includes details of UK addresses including organisation, sub-building name, building name, building number range, thoroughfare name, locality, post town, county and postcode. Use in your chosen GIS to plot addresses and find all those within a specified distance of a point or route to generate mailing lists or addresses for leaflet drops. Also use as very detailed gazetteer to locate individual addresses. This product is supplied in Microsoft Access format as standard.

MEDIUM ACCURACY

OS Code Point UK

Geocoding file, with a target accuracy to within 1m of the address closest to the centre of the postcode. The data set of choice when geocoding points for use with street level data or within small areas of interest such as 5 minute catchments. The x and y co-ordinates are provided in British National Grid and Lat/Long. This geocoding data set is derived from the mean of the best available Address-Point in Great Britain and Compas points in Northern Ireland. Consequently your own geocoded data will lie much closer to the correct street than with other files which are derived from the less accurate Postzon files. In addition this product is enhanced so that it accepts a variety of postcode formats, e.g. TW8 8JA or TW 8 8JA.

Unit Postcode Points UK

Use this file to place your own postcoded data on the map to within 100m of the first house in the postcode, or use it to navigate around your map using just the postcode. Provides x,y centroids for UK unit postcodes.

Derived from the Royal Mail Postzon file, MapMechanics has implemented statistical techniques to ensure every postcode has a coordinate value. The file contains approximately 545,000 historic postcodes to allow matches for out of date customer data. In addition this product is enhanced so that it accepts a variety of postcode formats, e.g.TW8 8JA or TW 8 8JA.
