HERE Maps

Detailed fully routeable road and path networks

HERE Maps formally known as NAVTEQ is a powerful routable road network that can be used to generate accurate walk, cycle and drive time isochrones.  The data also includes many additional features such as administrative areas, water features, town sprawls, country borders, railways, a gazetteer of places and key locations of interest including some shops, airports, golf courses, industrial areas, cemeteries, universities and sports grounds. This data has a structure which is consistent across many countries. HERE comes as standard with a 5 user licence.

Choose the detail you want

HERE is supplied in two main datasets – Base Streets and Premium, the great thing about HERE is that if you wanted to add additional content onto the Base Streets, this can be done for a small uplift in cost, the two products will be explained below: –

here_maps-appBase Streets

This is our recommended dataset; it includes information on the Base Streets of the network for use in software like TRACC.  It includes: –

  • Street-level fully routable vector road network
  • Named streets
  • Many paths and pedestrian only routes and bridges included
  • Many extra map features including some building outlines, low emission and congestion charging zones, symbols for DfT and tourist signs etc.
  • Towns classified into six categories for easy display at a range of scales
  • Full UK dataset so includes Northern Ireland
  • List price includes up to 5 users

The great thing about HERE is that you can add on additional content if required, popular add-ons are: –

  • Directional Information; software like TRACC has bidirectional link information, so you can find out if a road is a one way street or add bi-directional speed to the dataset.
  • Speed Limit Information; this gives the speed limit in both direction – requires the Direction Information add on.
  • INRIX Speed data; this highly detailed speed dataset can be added to the HERE Maps datasets.

Premium

The is the best quality output from HERE, it includes all the information provided in the Base Streets along with many of the additional content mentioned previously (Not INRIX), also includes is number of lanes a road has, comprehensive navigational detail, including achievable speed ranges, driving restrictions (e.g. one way streets, access restrictions, toll booths etc.) and information about the type of vehicle (e.g. bus, car, taxi or pedestrian) to which these restrictions apply. This vector data also includes all the cartographic details (rivers, towns, counties etc), points of interest and address range information.

  • Street-level fully routable vector road network with many navigation attributes such as number of lanes, speeds, direction of travel and access restrictions with dates and times that they apply
  • Named streets with number of first and last address on the left and the right hand side of each link in the road network
  • Many extra map features including some building outlines, low emission and congestion charging zones, symbols for DfT and tourist signs etc.
  • Towns classified into six categories for easy display at a range of scales
